Fractional odds explained
Learn the meaning of 5/2, evens and 4/6, then change them into decimal odds and the chance as a percentage, with sample calculations.

How to read a fraction
Your stake is the second number, while your winnings are the first. With 5/2 odds, a £2 bet pays £5, and your £2 stake comes back too, giving £7 in all. Odds of 1/1, called evens, double your money. When the price is 4/6, it's called odds-on, and the amount you stake is larger than your winnings.
Converting to decimal odds
Take the top number, divide it by the bottom one, then add one. The odds 5/2 equal 3.5, while evens equal 2.0, and 4/6 comes to about 1.67. Your stake is included in decimal odds, so a £10 stake at 3.5 pays back £35. By default, our pages use fractions, while each feed's switch lets you see decimals.
Converting to a chance
The chance implied by a price comes from dividing one by the decimal odds. Decimal odds of 3.5 mean a 29% chance. Our fair price calculation runs in reverse: when we give a team a 40% chance to win, we divide 1 by 0.40, giving 2.5 or 6/4. By our numbers, any price above that one offers value.
